Antoneşti village

From the historical documents, Antoneşti village is known from 1842, and was founded by the emigrants from the northern part of the country. One of those emigrants had the name Anton, who was a rich man, and which the name of Antoneşti village comes from.
Geographically, the village Antoneşti is situated at a distance of 23 km from the county center Ştefan-Vodă in the South-Eastern part of the Republic of Moldova and 115 km from the country capital, Chişinău.

The surface of this village is 32, 8 km2 with a population of 3025 habitants (in 2004). Also this location is situated 6 km to the north-east of Ukraine (along the border formed by the Nistru River) and 6 km to the south-west of Ukraine (25 km from Lake Dnestrovsk which flows into the Black Sea). Around Antoneşti village and in Ştefan-Vodă county there are 26 localities with a population of 70 594 habitants (in 2004).

Thus, the infrastructure in the community and this region of the country is lacking, the village of Antonesti is completely connected to the electrical networks and partially connected to the gas pipeline grid in Moldova. At the moment, is taking place installation work of aqueducts aimed to supply the locality with drinkable water. Also, another infrastructural advantage is the fact that the village stays near by the international road Chişinău-Odessa.

In present, the village disposes from a Rumanian High School, Medical Clinic, a kindergarten, a House of Culture, a School for Art, a Library, and two religious centers – Orthodox and Baptist churches.

The economy of the village is based mostly on agriculture, when the industrial branch and of processing is reduced only to a Mill and a Sun Flower Oil Station. Also, the revenue of the agricultural branch is very low due to insufficient and efficient agricultural technical machines and equipments. Another reason can be the fact that farmers are not using new high advanced technologies to obtain higher crop. The lack of sustainable market for the agricultural products it is also an impediment in the development of an advanced agricultural economy from this region.

The demographic problem, which dominates in Republic of Moldova, as well as in this region, is the migration of population and desertion of the living place in search of a job which could ensure a better live. This problem aggravates much more the economy and social situation in the region.

Taking into consideration the geographical, territorial, economic, demographic and infrastructural situation of the Antoneşti region, the activities of the Community and Training Center mentioned in the previous chapter will play a big role through:

- according to the population from the region different social services;
- ensuring with new jobs;
- attracting of different investments in business development;
- attracting and opening of different representatives of different NGOs that will contribute at a variety of social, financial and education assistance;
- organizing and administrating different social and educational activities, as well as of seminars and conferences aimed to get the tasks mentioned above;
- offering of different services aimed to improve the living conditions from this region;

Such an institution will be extremely important also for Ştefan-Vodă county, because in the concept of CTC is included the extension of all the activities and its services in the whole county of Ştefan-Vodă. Through this model of helping the people and regional development, social, economic and educational impact will be accomplished that will contribute to the South-Eastern region transformation of the Republic of Moldova according to a democratic and Christian model, which is the supreme goal of the Community and Training Center managed by the COMMUNITAS Association.
